Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
The meaning of this affix is 'Actor lacks N'.
According to the Comparative Eskimo Dictionary, this morpheme is formed through a combination of {ŋit-} (lack/is without) and {liqə-}, the latter of which is the source of the modern day affix N{-lirə}V (with a rather different meaning).
The affix listed as -ileĸivoĸ in Schultz-Lorentzen (1958), however nowadays it does not seem to be used productively on its own, except in combination with nominal future affix N{kcaq}N.
For the productive form, see the variant N{kcailiqə}V instead.
Inflection sandhi:
Even though this affix historically is a ə-stem, it does not display the typical ə-contraction of endings. Thus, the final vowel behaves like /i/ in all regards, except that it does not cause assibilation.
