Form and usage:

From the examples given in Oqaatsit [14], the meaning of this affix is 'Agent asks/encourages Patient to Vb with him=Agent'. The affix does not appear in any of the older dictionaries; the first appearance I have found is in Oqaatsit [14] from 1997, so it must be recently formed.


Meanings and examples


  • aneqatiseraa, he asks him, if he wants to go outside (with him) [14]

    From anivoq, 'he exits; goes outside'.

  • angalaqatiseraa, he encourages him to travel (with him) [14]

    From angalavoq, 'he travels'.

  • qajartoqatiseraa, he would like to have him along for a kayak trip [14]

    From qajatorpoq, 'he sails in kayak'.
