Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
This is a straightforward combination of V{vqaq}V, 'Vb barely' and the negation affix V{ŋŋit}V, which is mentioned in Kleinschmidt (1871) and Schultz-Lorentzen (1958) under the entry for -rĸarpoĸ.
According to them, the negation is here often applied to V{vqaq}V alone, rather than the whole preceding stem, which thus inverts the meaning, such that it becomes something like 'Subject Vb to a very high degree' (literally: 'Subject does not barely Vb').
They only give a single example, so we cannot say much about the general usage based on that, but, given the meaning, I assume that this usage will mostly (or only) make sense with adjectival stems.
Right sandhi:
Right sandhi is inherited from the right-most component, V{ŋŋit}V. See this for details.
Inflection sandhi:
Inflection sandhi is inherited from the right-most component, V{ŋŋit}V. See this for details.
Meanings and examples
Literally: 'Subject does not barely Vb'.
- iteqqanngitsoq, (something that is) very deep
[9]
From itivoq, 'it is deep', and with intransitive participle V{ðuq}N. Thus literally 'something that is not barely deep'.
