Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
The meaning of this affix is 'Subject Vb greatly'.
This is the Central West Greenlandic version of this affix, but there are also other forms:
- In Schultz-Lorentzen [CWSL58], the affix is listed as -kútôrpoĸ instead, i.e. -kuttoorpoq, but this appears to be the North-West Greenlandic version.
- Fortescue [MF83] notes that the South-West Greenlandic version of this affix is -kuloorpoq.
Meanings and examples
- nerikutsoorpoq, he ate a lot
[CWSL58]
Or 'greatly', 'heartily' etc.
- oqalukutsoorami, he let forth a torrent of words
[CWSL58]
I.e., 'he spoke a lot'. Note, the ending is intransitive causative 4sg, V{gami}, but the meaning is just past tense here.
