Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
This stem denotes a furrow on the belly of a baleen whale; in particular the humpback whale, qipoqqaq. According to the Comparative Eskimo Dictionary [MFSJLK10], both this stem and qipoqqaq derive from a verbal base {qipuk-}, 'to scratch'. See also the related stem {qipəruq}N, which more generally refers to a grove or furrow in some material.
