Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
This is the ergative possessive 3sg/sg ending. An older form of this ending seems to have been {-at} (or maybe {-atə}, but with /ə/ not taking any sound) , cf. the inflection of {tamaq}N. However, the present form is the one used productively.
Compare also the corresponding absolutive ending N{-a}. The ergative marker appears to be the final /t/, or /tə/, where the /ə/ has taken the sound [a] in this context.
