Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
This is the absolutive possessive 1sg/pl ending denoting 'my Ns'.
The Comparative Eskimo Dictionary [MFSJLK10] reconstructs this ending as {nka} in PE, and the corresponding singular ending as {ka}. The /k/ weakened to /g/ in the inuit branch, cf. N{-ga}.
The /n/ in the historic form seems to correspond to the plural marker N{t}. Thus, the present ending may be viewed as a straightforward combination of the plural marker and the absolutive 1sg/sg possessive marker, thus giving us /tga/, which yields -kka by the ordinary sound rules.
We do not record this as a combination here, since the combination happened already in PE, and not in Kalaallisut. However, we record the form as N{tga} to reflect this construction, since it yields the correct form by the active sound rules.
