Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
This affix appears to be a non-standard combination of N{-kit}V, 'has small/few' and N{(q)luk}N, 'bad' (or 'poor', 'pathetic' etc.). The meaning is 'something that has small, bad N', or, according to Ordbogeeraq [12], just -kitsoq, i.e. 'something that has small/few N'. The affix is not used productively, but may be found in some place-names.
Meanings and examples
The meaning 'bad' may sometimes not be present.
- Atanikerluk,
[11]
From ataneq, 'connexion'. It denotes a place where a narrow stretch of land connects to another piece of land between two lakes.
- atikerluk,
[11]
From {atə}N, 'area below'.
