Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
This is a non-productive affix mentioned in Schultz-Lorentzen and Ordbogeeraq [11, 12] with a few examples.
The meaning is 'Actor is a false N', and Schultz-Lorentzen relates it to N{-rusiq}N.
However, the present affix is not mentioned in the Comparative Eskimo Dictionary [16], so this cannot be verified.
Right sandhi:
According to Ordbogeeraq [12], the true /i/ in the stem will assibilate a following /t/ to /s/. For example -qqusersoq with the intransitive participle V{ðuq}N.
Meanings and examples
- peqquserpoq, he is false
[11]
From the dummy base {pi}N, giving the pure meaning of the affix.
- pruffiitioqquserpoq, he is a false prophet
[11]
From pruffiiti, a borrowed word, and verbalised with N{-u}V.
