Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
This is a non-productive morpheme found in a few lexicalised words. It is mentioned in Schultz-Lorentzen [11] and Ordbogeeraq [12], but not elsewhere.
According to Schultz-Lorentzen [11], the meaning of the affix is 'looks a little Vb'ing'. It appears to be a combination of the affix V{-ŋa}V and V{-aq}V, but the meaning seems more to be like that of N{-ŋa}V, 'resemble', and including some notion of 'a little', similar to V{-laaq}V. Thus, there may be some conflation with these affixes. In any case, the present affix appears to only have been used on stems derived with V{-aq}V.
Note that there is also a different morpheme, V{-ŋaaq}V, with an entirely different meaning: 'Vb highly'. That morpheme is productive, in contrast to the present affix.
Left sandhi:
Left sandhi is inherited from the left-most component, V{-ŋa}V. See this for details.
