Meanings and examples

Or 'rather', i.e. indicating 'more than just a little bit', but not to the highest degree.

  • amerlakuluppoq, they are quite many [13]

The verb stem is seemingly not recorded on its own in any dictionary, but cf. amerlaqaat, 'they are very many'.

  • angikuluppoq, it is rather big [13]

    From angivoq, 'it is big'.

  • natsimakuluppoq, a (somewhat strong) gale is blowing [13]

From natsimavoq, 'a strong gale is blowing'.

  • (-neq) ajukuluppara, I (unfortunately) cannot Vb it; my skills are insufficient [13]

The example in Kleinschmidt [13] does not include -neq, but from the meaning, and the transitive ending on {ajuq}V, it must be an example of the V{nəq ajuq}V construction.
