Description and behaviour

Form and usage:

This affix is a verbal variant of N{-ralak}N, in the old sense of the affix: 'a little'. The present affix means 'Subject is starting to Vb a little', probably in the sense of 'first he Vb a little', and then later more and more. This usage is not described in Oqaatsit [19], so it is likely not productive nowadays.

I.e. 'starts to Vb', first a little (and then later more and more).

  • aggeralappoq, he is starting to approach [16]

    From aggerpoq, 'he comes/arrives'.

  • ingerlaralappoq, he is starting to move forward a bit [16]

    From ingerlavoq, 'he goes/moves forward'.
