Its origin is not directly explained in any of the dictionaries, but the first component is the non-productive affix V{llak}V, 'abruptly', indicating a sudden onset of the verbal action. According to Kleinschmidt [9] , the second morpheme is V{taaq}V, denoting repeated action. This, in turn, derives from V{(t)taq}V, denoting a recurring action, and then finally V{-aq}V, here denoting prolonged activity. Thus, the affix seems to indicate a sudden/abrupt action that occurs several times over an extended period of time.
