Description and behaviour

Form and usage:

The meaning of this affix is 'Subject Vb now and then', or 'from time to time', or similar. Its origin is not directly explained in any of the dictionaries, but the first component is the non-productive affix V{llak}V, 'abruptly', indicating a sudden onset of the verbal action. According to Kleinschmidt [9] , the second morpheme is V{taaq}V, denoting repeated action. This, in turn, derives from V{(t)taq}V, denoting a recurring action, and then finally V{-aq}V, here denoting prolonged activity. Thus, the affix seems to indicate a sudden/abrupt action that occurs several times over an extended period of time.
