Description and behaviour

Form and usage:

This is a non-productive affix found in some lexicalised words. Kleinschmidt [9] and Schultz-Lorentzen [11] translate it as 'to a somewhat higher degree'.

Meanings and examples

  • aalasappoq, he is restless [11]

    From aalavoq, 'he moves around'.

  • kavasappaa, he pushes (against) him [11]

The base is unknown, and the stem is not mentioned in the Comparative Eskimo Dictionary [16].
