Form and usage:
This is a non-productive affix found in some lexicalised combinations. According to the Comparative Eskimo Dictionary [15] , it derives from a morpheme {ta(C)aʀ-} that denotes 'repeated action'. This, in turn, is supposedly derived from ??, although the present morpheme does not appear to have the epenthetic initial consonant.
