Description and behaviour

Form and usage:

The meaning of this stem is 'womb; uterus'. According to the Comparative Eskimo Dictionary [21], it derives from {ənə}N, here seemingly in the old, general meaning of 'space', and the affix {-li(C)aʀ}, cf. N{-lijaq}N. The latter appears to have caused /ə/ to drop, maybe by a process similar to /VC/ drop.

Right sandhi:

Right sandhi is inherited from the right-most component, N{-lijaq}N. See this for details.
