Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
The basic meaning of this stems is 'glow; ember' and, from this, 'glowing coal', and, according to Kleinschmidt [13], also 'coal' in general (whether burning or not).
In older dictionaries [13, 16, 17], it is recorded as a vowel stem, auma, but in the newer dictionary Oqaatsit [19], it is only listed as a q-stem, aamaq. Therefore, we here only record it as a q-stem.
Inflection sandhi:
According to Schultz-Lorentzen [8], this stem may optionally also decline without gemination.
