Description and behaviour

Form and usage:

This is a nominal variant of V{(q)gusuk}V, 'want/desire to'. According to Schultz-Lorentzen [16], the meaning is 'want/desire'. Thus, the meaning seems equivalent to the combination V{(q)gusuk}V + V{nəq}N. It is not mentioned in newer dictionaries, and even Schultz-Lorentzen only gives a single example, so it is clearly not used productively.

The inflection is described in Ordbogeeraq [17]. It inflects like a regular k-stem with up-declension.

Meanings and examples

The meaning is equivalent to V{(q)gusuk}V + V{nəq}N.

  • perusoqanngilaq, he has no desire for anything [16]

From the dummy base {pi}V, giving the pure meaning of the affix, and with N{-qaq}V, 'have' and V{ŋŋit}V, 'negation'.
