Description and behaviour

Form and usage:

This affix is a lexicalised construction used to form a kind of exclamation. It is only used as the final affix in a stem, and with the particle qanga (or the combination qangali) immediately preceding the verb. Although the form here is recorded as nominal, it is actually unclear whether it should be regarded as a noun or a verb stem, since it is never used with any endings. It is therefore presumably also only used with avalent or monovalent stems, since there are no person person markers to indicate who does what.

The first component in the combination is the verbal form of V{ŋŋuaq}V, but the final segment /ci/ is unidentified. The affix is only used in an exclamatory way, and hence never declined. Thus, we do not record a declension pattern.

    From nuannaarpoq, 'he is happy'. Note: It is not possible to see from this expression who the Subject 'they' is.
