Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
This stem is a straightforward combination of {əga}V + V{'-vik}N, so the literal meaning of this stem is 'cooking place'. Nowadays, it may be used synonymously with {əgavvik}N, i.e. in the sense of 'kitchen'. However, the present variant is derived with the less common/less productive variant V{'-vik}N, causing gemination of /g/ ⇒ /gg/. Thus, it may perhaps also be used in a more specific sense, e.g. 'stove' (and retaining {əgavvik}N for the more general/larger sense of 'room in which one cooks').
