Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
The meaning of this stem is 'summer'. According to the Comparative Eskimo Dictionary [MFSJLK10], it is related to the stem {aʀu-}, 'to rot', presumably via the meaning 'to thaw' (of the snow/ice).
Inflection
Declension pattern:
| Stem type: | Weak q-stem |
| Declension type: | p-declined |
| Declension sandhi: | Default/none |
Notes on declension:
The stem declines as an ordinary weak q-stem with p-declension, which is entirely regular, so we do not give an inflection pattern.
Meanings and examples
Also used in time expressions such as 'in the summer', 'next summer' and so on.
