Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
The meaning of this stem is 'nail, tack, bolt'. The Comparative Eskimo Dictionary [MFSJLK10], it derives from {kəkyaɣ}, where /y/ in this context appears to have become /i/, whereas in other contexts /y/ has become /j/ (a consonant). However, during inflection a reflex of this consonant appears and geminates to [cc]. Hence, we represent this as /ij/ in the morphemic form, since [j] is not written following [i].
Inflection sandhi:
This is a weak k-stem, that furthermore inflects with gemination of an unwritten consonant, here represented as /j/.
