Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
The meaning of this stem is 'piece that has been cut off' (from something). It is formed from {kəpə}V + V{'-q}N, where the latter affix has caused gemination of /p/ ⇒ /pp/, and simultaneously caused the final /ə/ to take the sound [a]. Hence, we record it as /a/ in the form here.
The non-productive morpheme V{'-q}N denotes the result of an action, so the meaning is similar to a passive participle of {kəpə}V.
Inflection
Inflection pattern:
| Stem type: | q-stem |
| Inflection sandhi: | Weak stem, Default/none, p-declined |
| Sources: | [JP67] |
Notes on inflection:
The stem inflects as an ordinary weak q-stem with p-declension. As this is entirely regular, we do not record a full inflection paradigm here.
