Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
The meaning of this stem is: 'Actor flies' (on wings, through the air).
In contrast to {təŋə}V, which denotes the onset of the action, the present stem denotes the continued action of flying, according to Kleinschmidt [SK71].
That aforementioned stem is also the base of the present stem, according to the Comparative Eskimo Dictionary [MFSJLK10], but the second morpheme is not clear. They suggest N{(q)mik}V, with elision of the stem-final /ə/, but this is not certain. Hence, we record the second component as unknown here.
