Form and usage:

This is the intransitive optative 1pl ending, denoting 'let us Vb!'. The mood marker here is {la}, and the person marker is {ta}, likely historically from {tə}, where /ə/ has taken the sound [a] in this context.

Note that this is an exclusive 'us', i.e. not including the addressee. Imagine a group of people standing outside a door, and yelling 'let us in!' to someone standing inside, holding the door shut. However, this distinction is likely not recognised by many speakers nowadays, and the corresponding imperative ending V{ta} is likely often used in both senses today.
