Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
This particle can be used in two ways:
- 'indeed', 'that's right' etc. In this sense, it is used either for emphasis, or for giving a confirmatory reply to a question. With this usage, the first form, {ila} is used.
- 'isn't that right?' In this sense, it is used to ask for confirmation, i.e. asking a question where the speaker expects a confirmatory reply. With this usage, the vowel is lengthened (likely because of the interrogative intonation), so it becomes the second form, {ilaa}.
Meanings and examples
In this sense, the first form {ila} is used.
