Description

Form and usage:

According to Fortescue et al. (2010), this affix is formed through a combination of {kðaʀ}, i.e. the nominal future affix N{kcaq}N, and a morpheme {lit-}, which however does not have a descendant in Greenlandic. It is presumably related to {liʀ-}, i.e. N{-liq}V, but the source of the /t/ is unexplained. Note that Schultz-Lorentzen (1958) in contrast claims it is a variant of V{-ut(ə)}V, but this cannot be the case as evidenced by the HTR-form, which reveals that there is no stem-final (ə).
