Description

Form and usage:

According to Fortescue et al. (2010), this affix derives from a combination of V{(t)siq}V and an old morpheme {yaʀ-} which has not come down into Greenlandic independently. See also V{(t)seriit}V with privative affix V{-it}V for another combination involving these morphemes.

Left sandhi:

The left-sandhi behaviour is similar to V{(t)siq}V, i.e. /s/ will not assimilate a preceding /t/, which applies both to the epenthetically injected /t/ and to a final /t/ of the preceding stem (both true t-stems and t(ə)-stems, since the affix is additive). See the entry for V{(t)siq}V for further details and examples.

Verb stem

Right sandhi: Regular
Valency: Valency-preserving
Diathesis: Unaltered (same as the stem)
