Description
Form and usage:
The meaning of this affix is 'Agent
provides Patient
with several N (one by one/bit by bit)'.
It is a straightforward combination of N{-liq}V, 'provide with' and non-productive V{tuq}V 'repeated action', where /t/ has been assibilated to /s/ by the preceding /i/ in the stem.
This is revealed in the old orthography form -lersorpâ, where we can see that this is a true /s/ and not a /c/, as would have been the case, if the second morpheme had been V{(q)cuq}V instead.
Like its left-most constituent, N{-liq}V, this combination may also display replacivity on tə-stems and cause a preceding /aq/ to drop.
When used in intransitive form without an intervening HTR-morpheme, the meaning becomes reflexive, 'Agent
provides himself with several N'.
