Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
This affix is a nominal variant of V{-ŋaaq}V. It is mentioned in Schultz-Lorentzen (1958). However, it does not seem to be used productively.
Inflection sandhi:
There are not many examples of the usage of this affix, so we do not provide a declension paradigm. However, it is presumably just ordinarily p-declined as a weak q-stem.
Meanings and examples
Or 'large' or 'very'.
- asasingaara, the one who loves me greatly
[11]
From asasi, active participle of {asa}V, 'love', and Absolutive 1sg/sg ending N{-ga}.
- maannagaaq, in good time
[11]
From maanna, 'now'. This is actually a declined, demonstrative stem, but it is lexicalised in the sense of 'now', and it is therefore here treated as a noun stem.
