Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
The meaning of this affix is 'Actor craves N' or 'Actor is crazy about N' or similar.
It is mostly used with food/drinks (in the sense 'crave to consume'), although there are also a few examples with non-food.
Left sandhi:
One of the examples given in Schultz-Lorentzen (1958) for this affix is angutángerpoĸ (new orthography angutanngerpoq), from {aŋutə}N, 'man', suggesting the affix should cause /ə/ to take the sound [a]. This can in some cases happen, e.g. if an affix causes gemination in the stem. However, there is nothing otherwise to suggest that this affix should have any special left-sandhi behaviour, and no other examples of this behaviour is attested elsewhere. Thus, this is presumably either an error, or an irregular construction (which is not lexicalised/attested in the DAKA dictionary). Therefore, the regular construction angutinngerpoq should be assumed to be the correct one nowadays.
