Left sandhi is inherited from the left-most component, N{-li}V. See this for details.
Right sandhi:
Right sandhi is inherited from the right-most component, V{-uq}V. See this for details.
Inflection sandhi:
Inflection sandhi is inherited from the right-most component, V{-uq}V. See this for details.
Meanings and examples
This can be both in the sense of 'build/create', but also 'make/prepare/process' with e.g. foods.
- kaagiliorpoq, he makes/bakes a cake
- kaffiliorpoq, he makes coffee
- illuliorpoq, he builds a house
[4]
- neqiliorpoq, he prepares/cooks seal meat
[4]
- nerisassiorpoq, he makes/prepares food
[4]
The base is nerisassaq, where the final morpheme is the nominal future affix N{kcaq}N. Here we see the affix having deleted the final /aq/, just like N{-li}V may do.
- imertaasiorpoq, he makes a bucket
[4]
From {əməqtautə}N (imertaat), 'water bucket'. Here we see the affix having caused replacivity of /təl/ ⇒ /s/.
- Nukissiorfiit, The name of the company providing electricity in Greenland
From nukissaq, '(future) electric power'. The final morpheme is nominal future affix N{kcaq}N, where the affix causes aq-drop.
- qaanniorpoq, he makes a kayak
[4]
From {qajaq}N, where the affix causes /aq/ to drop, which triggers compensatory gemination in the stem. Note that this stem displays a very uncommon kind of gemination /qaj-/ ⇒ /qainn-/.
