Description and behaviour

Form and usage:

This affix is a straightforward combination of V{ðuq}N + N{-atciaq}N + N{ŋŋuq}V. The two latter affixes here seem to denote 'a lot' and 'begin to', respectively, in this combination, and the affix seem to vacillate between whether one or the other meaning dominates. Nielsen [8] translates it as 'Subject finally begins to Vb', but some of the examples in Oqaatsit [14] rather seem to indicate a meaning like 'Subject begins to Vb a lot'.

Note that, because of the nominalisation with V{ðuq}N, this affix is likely only used with avalent/monovalent stems.

Left sandhi:

Left sandhi is inherited from the left-most component, V{ðuq}N. See this for details.
