This affix is historically a verbal variant of N{-aluk}N, albeit with a somewhat different meaning.

    From ikiuuppoq, a t(ə)-stem. Note that (ə) is injected, but it does not take the sound [a], even though it is followed by a vowel.

  • suialuppoq, there is a bit of a draught
    [8]

    From suerpoq, 'there is a draught'. The stem is avalent, and this example illustrates that this valency is preserved by the affix.
