Description and behaviour

Form and usage:

This affix is a combination of V{yumaaq}V, 'shall eventually' and V{nəqtu}V, 'Vb long/lengthily', both of which are themselves composite affixes. The combined meaning is not obvious from the meaning of the constituents: 'it takes a long time for Subject to (begin to) Vb'. If the delay is perceived as voluntary, it may alternatively be translated as 'Subject hesitates to Vb'.

Kleinschmidt [13] remarks that this affix is commonly followed by V{-qə}V for further emphasis, but as some of the other examples illustrate, this is not required.
