Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
This is a non-productive morpheme found in some lexicalised words.
According to Schultz-Lorentzen [11], the meaning is 'Agent Vb the Patients at length, one by one'.
This seems to be synonymous with the productive affixes V{-juraq}V and V{-juqtuq}V, and indeed, Schultz-Lorentzen records -orarpai, i.e. V{-juqtuq}V, as a variant form of the present affix, believing both derive from V{-raq}V.
However, the Comparative Eskimo Dictionary does not agree with this interpretation, giving instead a separate morpheme {qqaʀ-} as the source of the present affix (although they do not a possible relation to V{-raq}V).
Meanings and examples
- ilioqqarpai, he places them, one after the other
[11]
This appears to be from ilivaa with V{-uq}V, and Schultz-Lorentzen records it as synonymous with iliorarpai, cf. V{-juraq}V.
