Description and behaviour

Form and usage:

This affix is seemingly a combination of N{kcaq}N and N{-it}V and then an unknown/unexplained morpheme for the final part. However, it is not mentioned in the Comparative Eskimo Dictionary [21], nor in any old-orthography dictionary, so the origins of this affix are unclear.

The meaning of the affix is 'Actor lacks N'. Thus, it seems to be synonymous with N{kcailiqə}V, which also contains N{kcaq}N and N{-it}V.

Meanings and examples

Or 'Actor is N-less'.

  • ikinngutissaasuavoq, he lacks friends [19]
  • inissaasuavoq, he lacks a place to live [19]
  • imissaasuavoq, it is lacking water [19]
  • piffissaasuavoq, lacks time [19]

Or: 'he doesn't have much time'.
