Meaning

the most Vb'ing

Notes

Unlike V{nəq}N, which can mean either 'more' or 'most' Vb'ing, this affix only mean 'most Vb'ing'. As with V{nəq}N (in the comparative sense), this affix is only used with adjectival stems.

Kalaallisut Translation Notes
illu annerpaaq the biggest house As with V{nəq}N, this affix may also elide a final /ə/, as is here the case with {aŋə}V, 'is big'.
illu annerpaavoq the house is the biggest Verbalisation with copula N{-u}V. This example is formed with {aŋə}V{nəqpaaq}N{-u}V{vuq}, where N{-u}V causes the final /aq/ to drop; i.e. /aŋneqpauvuq/ in phonemic notation. This combination may alternatively yield annerpaajuvoq without /aq/ drop, if the speaker does not use this rule.
