Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
Based on the examples in Kleinschmidt [SK71], the meaning of this stem can be defined as 'the area between Possessor and the center (of something)'.
Commonly, it will be used of a land, in particular Greenland.
As all settlements are along the coast, kangia will therefore denote the area between a settlement and the center of the land, which for all towns in West Greenland therefore will mean east of the town (and west in East Greenland).
According to Kleinschmidt [SK71], it may also be used of limbs of a body, e.g. a human body. In this sense, it will denote the point where the limb attaches to the torso, i.e. again the area where the limb is closest to the center of the body. However, this usage is likely not as common nowadays as the directional usage.
