Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
This is a verbal variant of {isuma}N, 'mind, thought'.
All the major dictionaries [SK71], [JP67], [CWSL58], [CBBJRPIKJR97] record the present, verbal form, with the meaning 'Actor thinks/means/intends/is of the opinion (that...)', with an object clause in the contemporative mood; or with qanoq, ima/taama (noted in [SK71]).
However, it does not appear to be commonly used.
Instead, the combination {isumaqaq}V, using the nominal variant, is preferred.
Meanings and examples
With qanoq, ima/taama or an object clause in the contemporative mood.
- qanoq isumavit?, What do you think? What is your opinion?
[SK71]
- taama isumanngikkaluarpunga, that was not how I had thought (it would be/happen)
[SK71]
From {isuma}V + V{ŋŋit}V + V{galuaq}V + V{vuŋa}.
