Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
The basic meaning of this stem is 'Actor emits smoke' or 'steam', i.e. a fire or lamp, a steaming pot etc.
For smoking tobacco, see {pujuqðaq}V.
The stem may also be used in a general sense with an unspecified 3sg actor (likely 'the weather'), to denote 'it is foggy'.
Lastly, Christian Rasmussen [CR93] and Schultz-Lorentzen [CWSL58] also give a transitive usage: 'Agent smokes Patient' (i.e. fish, meat etc. for preserving it).
However, this usage is not mentioned in later dictionaries such as Oqaatsit [CBBJRPIKJR97], which instead gives {pujuuq}V for this meaning.
