Form and usage:

This is the exclamatory/predicative form of the demonstrative root {im}D. It may also be used with the anaphoric prefix {ta(ð)}*, seemingly with no difference in meaning.


Meanings and examples

  • Inngilerpassuit savanik paarsisunut Juullimi ima tussiarput:, Great flocks of angels sang thus to the shepherds at Christmas:
  • ima atsigaaq, he is as big as this/thus big [CBBJRPIKJR97]

    With the height indicated by something, e.g. with the hand.

  • ima issitsigaaq, it is so cold (that ...) [CBBJRPIKJR97]

    I.e., 'as cold as thus'.
