Description and behaviour

Form and usage:

Schultz-Lorentzen [16] translates this affix as 'slowly; (taking) longer than expected'. Fortescue [18] gives a slightly different translation: 'patiently/slowly/at one's ease'.

This meaning seem similar, or related to two other affixes: V{-ruucaaq}V and V{-ucaaq}V. According to the Comparative Eskimo Dictionary [21], both derive from an historical morpheme {ŋuðaʀaʀ-}. The present affix is not mentioned therein, but given the similarities in meaning, it seems likely that the present affix also derives from this.
