Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
The meaning of this affix is 'Subject
Vb again and again (at intervals)', i.e. repeatedly, but with some time in-between each event, at which the Subject
e.g. does other things.
Given the repeated/habitual meaning of this affix, it often follows the habitual affix V{ðaq}V, or possibly some other affix indicating repeated/habitual action.
According to the Comparative Eskimo Dictionary, it is a compound affix, but the left-most morpheme does not have a descendant in Kalaallisut. The right-most morpheme is presumably V{-aq}V, and this may is dropped in combination with V{-(cc)ut(ə)}V, cf. the combination V{-qattaut(ə)}V.
Inflection sandhi:
Inflection sandhi is inherited from the right-most component, V{-aq}V. See this for details.
