Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
This affix is a so-called 'half-transitivising' morpheme, abbreviated HTR, which is used to give divalent, patient-preserving stems intransitive form, without changing the meaning of the stem. The concept of HTR-morphemes and their usage is further described on this page: Half-transitive affixes.
The present affix is primarily used on ə-stems, almost all of which are formed with N{-gə}V or V{-gə}V. However, it is sometimes also used on other vowel-stems as well, for example asavaa, asannippoq, 'he loves him' and takuaa, takunnippoq, 'he sees him'. According to Kleinschmidt [9], it is occasionally also used on q-stems and k-stems, but he does not give any examples.
