Description and behaviour

Form and usage:

This is a lexicalised passive participle of {pisi}V, denoting 'something bought'. This stem is not normally perceived as divalent, so the Patient role expressed by this noun is actually the incorporated noun stem in {pisi}V, which is the 'dummy' stem {pi}N, i.e. just 'something'. With possessive endings, the stem therefore denotes 'something bought by Possessor'.

Note that it appears that this combination is formed with the variant {-aq}, i.e. without the initial /ð/, rather than N{-lijaq}N, where the /j/ is a reflex of /ð/, that sometimes may resurface through gemination. See also the combination N{siaq}N. The present stem might also arguably be perceived as a combination {pi}N + N{siaq}N.
