Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
The meaning of this stem is 'bell' (and maybe also 'ringing sound'). For unknown reasons, this stem was spelt sujaneĸ in the old orthography, but this is not supported by the Comparative Eskimo Dictionary [MFSJLK10], who reconstructs this stem as {civanəq}.
Note also the verbal variant {sianəq}V, 'ring; make a ringing sound'.
Right sandhi:
Right sandhi is inherited from the right-most component, V{nəq}N. See this for details.
Inflection
Inflection pattern:
| Stem type: | q-stem |
| Inflection sandhi: | Strong stem, Metathesis, up-declined, Cəq⇒qC or qŋ |
Notes on inflection:
The stem inflects with metathesis like V{nəq}N. See that for declension details.
