Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
This is the absolutive singular marker for demonstrative pronouns. It has two forms:
- The variant form {ŋa} is used on demonstrative stems ending in a velar consonant, i.e. /k/ or /g/. These are {ik}D, {kig}D, and {pik}D. Maybe this is a consequence of the final consonant being geminated and then subsequently nasalised by the 'demonstrative a', which seems to appear in all demonstrative endings.
- On all other demonstrative stems, the standard form {na} is used.
