Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
The meaning of this affix is 'Agent makes an N from Patient'.
It is a straightforward combination of N{-lijaq}N and N{-gə}V.
However, the former affix is a non-standard combination of N{-li}V and V{-ðaq}N.
Note that N{-li}V has some rather peculiar left-sandhi phenomena, which are inherited by this affix:
- It displays replacivity, i.e. /təl/ ⇒ /s/,
- It may delete a final /VC/ from the preceding stem, which then may cause compensatory gemination in the stem.
Left sandhi:
Left sandhi is inherited from the left-most component, N{-li}V. See this for details.
