Description and behaviour
Form and usage:
The affix is only used on adjectival stems describing a state of being. It has two different meanings:
- '
Agent
findsPatient
more Vb'ing than expected', - '
Agent
makesPatient
too Vb'ing'.
The affix is valency-increasing, by adding a new Agent
role: the Actor
role of the stem is mapped to the Patient
role of the affix.
Apparently, it is not used with a HTR-morpheme, so there is no HTR-form.
Left sandhi:
Some examples in Schultz-Lorentzen (1958) suggest that this affix may elide /ə/ on a preceding stem.
